Two security personnel killed in encounter with Naxalites in Jharkhand's Chatra

Two security personnel were killed and one injured during an encounter with naxalites in Chatra district of Jharkhand.

Chatra: Two security personnel were tortured and one suffered a serious bullet injury during an encounter with the naxalites in Jharkhand's Chatra district on Wednesday, an official said. According to PTI reports, the encounter took place in the Bairio forest between Sadar and Basisthnagar Jori police stations, about 200 km from Jharkhand's capital Ranchi.

As informed by IG (operations) Amol V Homakar, the deceased were identified as Sikandar Singh, a resident of Wazirganj in Gaya, and Sukan Ram, a native of Palamu in Jharkhand.

Sandip Kumar, a sub-divisional police officer of Chatra, said, “The injured jawan Aakash Singh, who sustained a bullet wound, was shifted to Ranchi for treatment.” He further said that the security personnel were returning from an operation when they were ambushed by the ultras of the Tritya Sammlan Prastuti Committee.
