The Russian Defense Ministry claims the drones have been destroyed.

The air base, in southwestern Russia, is home to the Russian Blackjack bombers, also known as Tupolev Tu-160.

They are Soviet-era Russian supersonic strategic missile-carrying variable-wing bombers.

Together with the Tu-95MS bombers, these aircraft form the mainstay of Russian long-range aviation.

The Tu-160M is designed to attack enemy targets in remote areas with nuclear and conventional weapons.

Residents living close to the air base reported hearing a siren before four explosions sounded.

Roman Busargin, the governor of Saratov Oblast, claimed that no damage had been caused to the air base.

But in an earlier attack, drones successfully destroyed the base and two of them Putin’s Tu-95 nuclear bombers were blown up.

Dramatic footage showed a huge flash at the site during the early morning strike.

It was reported that the tyrant was humiliated forced to hide its fleet of bombers after the strike.

Satellite images revealed the Russian president moved six planes behind him the successful attack.

It comes as the war in Ukraine rages on – with no end in sight as Putin inevitably secured another term as Russian leader just days ago.

The aging dictator, 71, will now be in power until at least 2030 after masterminding a mock election to give himself his biggest landslide victory ever: over 87 percent.

He delivered a “victory speech” just hours after the polls closed, thanking Russians for their “trust” and “support”, saying the result would allow Russian society to “become stronger”.

The despot once again warned that the world could be led to the edge of the abyss World War 3 as Western troops enter Ukraine, where the Russian invasion has stagnated for more than two years.

He also vowed to ‘defeat’ his enemies as a crowd of supporters cheered him on.

Putin said: “We are all one team. No one can oppress us, they will never succeed.

“But we, as one united family, can defeat them.

“And all our goals will be achieved, we will do everything we can to achieve this.”

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky branded Putin “sick of power” as his troops continue to fight Russian forces.

The wartime leader added: “It is clear to everyone in the world that this figure, as has happened many times throughout history, is simply sick of power and is bent on ruling forever.

‘There is no legitimacy in this imitation of elections, and there cannot be.

“This person should be tried in The Hague. We must ensure that.”
