‘We are not on the eve of war Russia. We are not about to be attacked,” Radakin told security experts at the annual defense conference at Chatham House.

He reassured the British that despite the brutal two-year war in Russia UkraineNot a single military official in Britain talks about conscription for ordinary citizens.

“Britain is safe. We are safe because we are part of NATO, the largest and strongest alliance in the world, and also because we are a responsible nuclear energy,” he said.

And despite the recent second failure of the British Trident test launch, Admiral Radakin promised that Britain would serve as a completely safe nuclear power plant. current.

But any attack by Russia on NATO land would prompt some of the 3.5 million uniformed personnel spread across Europe to come down like a ton of bricks on Putin’s forces.

He also said that NATO’s significant air forces – which outnumber Russia’s 3-1 – would “quickly establish air superiority.”

And NATO’s naval reserves would destroy Russian ships as effectively as Ukraine would absorb them in the Black Sea.

“NATO has four times as many ships and three times as many submarines as Russia,” he said, and Britain would be at the heart of this formidable military response to any aggression in Europe.

Britain’s impressive reserves – which contribute 25 percent of NATO’s naval forces and 10 percent for land and air – reinforce this daunting prospect for Putin and keep him off British shores.

Admiral Ramakin also praised Britain’s cyber and space capabilities – and our own Special Forces – and gave examples of our recent actions abroad in tackling the Houthi threat in Yemen, protecting Red Sea trade and leading of efforts in Ukraine.

He said: “Time and time again, the British Armed Forces have stepped up to do our part. And that’s without even considering our domestic roles.

“These are dangerous and uncertain times. But Britain has what it needs to succeed G7 economy. An extensive one science and technological base. Our island geography.

‘Our membership in the strongest alliance in the world. Our status as a nuclear power and our seat on the UN Security Council.

“Our job is to take these strengths and align them in a way that is faster and more powerful than our competitors. This is how we stay safe. This is how we will win in the future.”

Benedetta Berti, head of policy planning for NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, said today: “NATO’s nuclear deterrent is working” and pledged that defense and deterrence are a top priority for the alliance going into 2024.

And David Quarrey, Britain’s ambassador to NATO, agreed that NATO’s power has effectively stopped Putin from invading a wider Europe.

On the nuclear deterrent, he said: “Putin believes in it – that is why he has not acted on NATO territory for the past two years.”

To compete with NATO, Russia would have to rebuild both its tank fleet and its armored vehicles – and massively replenish both missiles and ammunition.

As Ukraine continues to defy expectations and courageously push back Putin’s forces on the cold front, Russia is busy meeting the unexpected demands of the current war.

Admiral Radakin said: “I am not saying that Russia is not dangerous. It has shown that with the aggression it uses both domestically and internationally.

“But at the same time, the country is also significantly less capable than we expected after the disastrous illegal invasion of Ukraine.”

And, he says, an invasion of Europe would put Russia face to face with the “straitjacket” of full NATO power – further reinforced by the accession of Finland and Sweden.

He said, “We are stronger than any country other than America.

“We are going through an extraordinary transformation…we want to recapitalize the military,” he said, with the injection of more than £40 billion of new equipment for the British armed forces.

“And we need to be more competitive in electronic warfare.”

Britain is part of “the strongest military alliance in the world, and it is getting stronger,” he added.

Speaking of conscription and a “citizen army,” Admiral Radakin said, “Those could emerge as things progress and become more dangerous… there are no plans to do that.”
