The Traitors became an instant favourite when it aired on the BBC last year, leaving viewers on the edges of their seats.

The reality series, hosted by Claudia Winkleman, showed 22 strangers fighting to win as much as £120,000 in a Scottish castle by back-stabbing and lying to one another.

It attracted an average audience of 5.4 million and went on to win two trophies at the BAFTA TV Awards after Faithfuls Aaron Evans, Meryl Williams and Hannah Byczkowski took home the £101,050 jackpot.

The Traitors returned for its hotly-anticipated second series on January 3, with a whole new cast of Traitors and Faithfuls scheming in a bid to win the prize money.

As the smash hit show returns to screens, MailOnline takes a look at where the cast of The Traitors’ first series are now.

WILFRED WEBSTER

Wilf’s scheming and deception as a Traitor took him all the way to the final and he almost outwitted the Faithfuls to take home the entire prize pot for himself.

However, the three remaining Faithfuls figured out at the last minute that he was a Traitor and took home the cash for themselves in a nail-biting twist.

His role in the show saw his ‘befriend and betray’ his fellow contestants with his fellow Traitors as they sent people home in a bid to take the cash prize themselves.

Speaking of the show, Wilf told the BBC: ‘You’re sucked into this game and all the problems going on in the world are no longer relevant, the only thing that’s relevant is the game you’re stuck in.

‘My whole thing was befriend and betray – betray the people who were closest to me so it makes them look like they were murdered, I was genuinely upset because of guilt.’

Wilf admitted he will be rooting for the Traitors to win series two, and addressed whether he would ever consider returning to the show.

He told Digital Spy: ‘At first, when I came out and watched it, everyone kept asking would you go in again and I was like ‘No, never’.

‘But the more I’ve had time to digest it and enjoy it and rewatch it, I’m like, ‘Do you know what, it was a really great experience and really fun’.

‘I’d love to have a chance to actually win this time, so you never know, maybe one day.’

On the show, Wilf said he wanted to win the money so he could get married to his fiancée Panayiota and take their two children on holiday.

Though he didn’t win the prize money, Wilf tied the knot with his partner Panayiota in Cyprus after filming wrapped and he shared some sweet snaps from the ceremony.

Wilf, from Dogsthorpe, Peterborough, worked for as a senior fundraiser for a charity before his appearance on The Traitors, and is still passionate about giving back to his community.

Of his future plans, he told the BBC: ‘I want to give back to Peterborough, there’s not a lot of things for young people to do there at the moment, so if I can open a boxing gym and dance studio, that’s the aim.’

AARON EVANS

Aaron was the final star to be among the winning team on The Traitors after beating all the Traitors to the prize money.

On the show, Aaron candidly shared his experience about living with ADHD and he later told how he received many messages thanking him for his honesty.

When asked if he’d been contacted by fans after the show, he told MailOnline and other media: ‘Yeah, mainly from men.

‘It feels so weird because looking back I was just trying to be myself and I would say I’m quite an emotional person and they message me and say, ‘This has helped me so much’ and ‘thank you so much for opening up on national TV’.

‘At a point I was like, I wish I wasn’t so emotional, but as soon as I got a message saying, ‘I’m so glad you did that, it’s helped me out so much’, I was more than relieved.’

Aaron insisted he didn’t intend to be a role model for viewers, adding that he didn’t set out to showcase his ADHD or raise awareness.

After the show, Aaron quit his job as a property agent and went travelling, visiting Vietnam and Thailand with his friends.

He used £3,000 from his prize money to go travelling, while he gave the rest of it to his mother Jenny so she could buy a house.

Revealing her reaction, he explained: ‘She was crying when I came back from the show and then once I told her, she started crying even more. It was really emotional.’

Aaron also has his sights set on a return to reality television as he previously admitted he’d be open to trying out any show that comes along, apart from Love Island.

He said: ‘If anything comes along I’d be more than happy to, it’s so much fun so I’d definitely do something again, but I don’t know about Love Island.

‘I don’t think I’m cut out for Love Island. Any reality TV show I’d be more than up for.’

Over the summer, he appeared on BBC’s Mastermind alongside other celebrities  – including Michelle Heaton and Maisie Adam – to raise money for charity.

Talking about joining the Channel 4 soap, Maddy said: ‘I’ve had a blast filming, everyone at Hollyoaks has been so kind and accommodated me and bump so well. Faye Fuller is trashy, sassy and a bit cutthroat.’

‘I used to watch Hollyoaks and chat about it before school on the radiators. Chuffed to now be a part of it.’

In September, Maddy also welcomed her first child, a baby girl named Shelby Rae, with her partner Tom Greenwood.
