Who is Taylor Tomlinson? 5 Things About the New CBS Late Night Host
CBS has found a successor for that James Corden at comedian Taylor Tomlinson.
Tomlinson, 29, will take over the network’s 12:37 p.m. ET timeslot, which was previously held by Corden’s The late-late showwith her new late night series, After midnight, CBS announced in November 2023 press release.
Stephen Colbert is set to co-executive produce the series, which will air after episodes of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. Tomlinson will be the only female late night host on Network TV After midnight‘s premiere in early 2024.
Despite doing stand-up comedy since the age of 16, Tomlinson joked that she “never had a real job” before landing her After midnight hosting gig on a November 2023 episode by The late show. “This was a very nice couple [of] months. “I was searching on TikTok for ‘how to ace a job interview’ (TikTok is Google for kids) and ‘how to impress your maybe boss,'” she told Colbert.

Tomlinson grew up in Temecula, California, and used stories from her upbringing in her comedy. “I didn’t grow up in a household that was very aware of mental health. For example, we were very religious,” she stated in her March 2022 Look at yourself special. “I don’t know if you’ve ever tried to tell your conservative father that you have a mental health problem. Things aren’t going great.”
She continued, “When I was in high school, I thought, ‘Dad, I think I’m depressed.’ And he said, ‘You just need some protein. Take a scoop of peanut butter. Yes, there are many fathers struggling through life right now, clinging to a jar of fat Jif as if that is the answer, just a buoy in the storm. ‘It’ll blow over.'”

After Midnight will be based on the Comedy Central series At Midnight (@midnight) with Chris Hardwickwhich ran for four seasons from 2013 to 2017. “It’s such a beautiful photo. I want to have a subtitle contest. ‘What’s going through her mind? What is she responding to?” Colbert said, and Tomlinson followed up by poking fun at her appearance during the phone call.
“When you log into Zoom and realize you should have dried your hair and put on more makeup, that’s basically what happens,” she said, noting that she initially thought Colbert was calling her to “ to quietly abandon her.”
Tomlinson later celebrated her new role via Instagram. “I have a job 😮,” she captioned a photo of hers Show up late appearance, as well as her funny Zoom response.
