Although they are now a lot richer, the couple says they “can’t go out and be completely reckless.”

Paul, 59, even continued his gardening business four years after they won the big prize in 2012.

And they’ve made every penny count, spending the fortune on things that benefit others.

Marie said: “The proudest thing I have done with the money is buying a defibrillator for my grandson’s school.”

Paul added: “It’s a special school and we were over the moon to give them that.”

The pair are enthusiastic volunteers in their spare time and have raised a lot of money for various charities.

They helped raise an impressive donation for cancer research after their daughter was diagnosed with ovarian cancer.

Paul also volunteers to look after the Lichfield War Memorial.

It comes as if a lucky winner who hit a £1 million jackpot wouldn’t have won a penny if he hadn’t called his ex-wife.

Steve Glover couldn’t believe his eyes when he checked his lottery results and almost didn’t claim the huge windfall.

The ex-taxi driver from Exeter took his chances in March 2023 after Yobs vandalized his caravan and foiled plans to retire in the Scottish Highlands.

And another jackpot scooper has hit back after she was accused of pocketing a £1million jackpot after breaking away from her boyfriend.

Charlotte Cox, 37, has heavily criticized her ex-partner. Michael Cartlidge’s ‘nonsense’ claims he is entitled to half the huge winnings.
