Claustrophobic YouTuber explores 12-inch-wide cave network

A man who has a fear of confined spaces decided to face his fear head-on by spending five hours fighting his way through a cave system that was a foot wide at points.

Ally Law, 26, from Southampton, was exploring a hilly area in Bangor, North Wales with his friend Jack Jerrard, 30, when the pair discovered a hole in the side of a hill.

After seeing the small opening, the content creators imagined themselves a “claustrophobia challenge” in which they explored the cave after squeezing their way inside.

When they embarked on their challenge, which Ally says was about “overcoming a fear,” they admit they “freaked out” as they squeezed their bodies through spaces as small as a foot.

The friends, who filmed their challenge during the five-hour exploration of the cave, have now been viewed more than 100,000 times on YouTube.

The creator of the content, Ally, recalled being frightened at points where he was trapped in narrow parts of the cave with barely any visibility.

He said, “At one point I was wedged in pretty hard and it hit my back and stomach. My neck also hurt because I had to tilt my head to the side because it didn’t fit.

“We were starting to think we might have to go back, but it’s a good thing we didn’t, because we’d been there for five hours anyway.

“You can’t see anything down there without a flashlight. It’s another level of darkness. Even with light you lose all sense of whether you are going down or up. It throws out all your perception.

“We didn’t know it was going to come out the other side. We thought that if we dived deep into it, we could come out the same way in the worst case scenario.

“I know it’s probably not the best motto to have, but if you can get in, you can probably get out.”

In the video, the pair can be seen declaring themselves ‘stupid’ as they become trapped in a confined space, before managing to claw themselves back to freedom and find another route.

A clip shows Ally realizing the danger he’s put himself in as he says, “I’m sorry I did this, this is terrible.”

After completing his challenge, Ally said, “It felt great when we got out. You would never think you taste fresh air, but you taste it and you feel it. It was great to breathe fresh air.

Content creator Ally admitted he knew his exploration was “dangerous,” but said he and Jack wouldn’t have accepted the challenge if they thought they were at risk of death

“I know it’s not safe and there are dangers involved, but we wouldn’t do anything that we think would kill us or get stuck.”

His “cheap” flashlight batteries even failed in the pitch-black shaft, leaving them with only one headlamp between the pair until they thankfully started working again.

Ally says he didn’t realize how many people were freaked out by tight spaces until he saw the reaction to his video.

One said, “I couldn’t think of anything worse.”

A second said, “You could never give me anything to do this.” I choose life.’

A third joked: ‘Respect to you, you really have balls of steel. I thought I’d get in the mood and crawl under my bed to look at it. That was enough for me.’

A fourth said, ‘I feel claustrophobic watching this! fair game dude.’
