Zoo stunned as 130-pound chimpanzees go bald and show off their terrifying, ripped physiques after ‘pulling out each other’s hair’

GERMAN zookeepers are baffled after their 130lb chimpanzees went bald, but there is a sinister reason behind their new fur style.

The monkeys’ extremely ripped physiques are reportedly on display as the ‘stressed’ animals ripped out each other’s hair in a cruel show of force.

Horror photos from the Magdeburg Zoo in northern Germany show some chimpanzees with hair hanging in tatters on their backs, while others have no hair at all.

A sign next to the chimpanzees’ sad-looking enclosure explains that their terrifying appearance is due to “over-grooming”.

In the primate kingdom, grooming is used to show affection and confirm their rank.

In Magdeburg, however, things seem to have gotten out of hand animal human rights activists are sounding the alarm about the abnormal behavior of chimpanzees.

Peta has complained that the monkeys showed “symptoms of severe psychological stress disorders.”

They argued: “Some of them had noticeable bald patches on their heads, chests and the backs of their shoulders; some were now almost completely hairless.

“In addition, some animals consumed their own feces.”

Peta claimed that their “conduct disorder” indicated “significant, ongoing distress.”

According to the animal rights organization, so-called ‘overgrooming’ is a result of stress, fear, boredom and frustration – all reasons for chimpanzees to behave strangely.

The prevailing theory for what’s behind their psychological stress is their little enclosure.

In 2019, a mass ape prison escape from their large outdoor enclosure saw them moved to a smaller caged area.

The zoo has spent £1.6 million building an escape-proof facility, but it will not open until later this year.

Veterinarian Felix Huseman of the Magdeburg Zoo told the German newspaper Image: “Our animals are doing very well in terms of health.”

Peta already filed a criminal complaint against the zoo in 2021 for closing the monkey’s large outdoor enclosure, but it was later dismissed.

Now the animal rights activists have filed a complaint against the prosecutor’s office, ending the investigation and demanding a final decision on the legal proceedings.

“We call on politicians and the zoo to completely abolish the captivity of great apes in the Magdeburg Zoo,” Peta said.

“It is a crime to imprison great apes,” added spokesperson Dr. Yovnne Würz.

In 2021, The Sun told about terrifyingly muscular chimpanzees with razor-sharp teeth that suffers from alopecia.

The primates brutally beat each other up, prompting some to believe they could take over the world in a Planet of the Apes-type horror.

The hairless beast was filmed as they ran through a fence and tackled the weak.

It comes like an army of sex-crazed monkeys terrorized a city after indulging in buffets of sugary drinks and snacks in Thailand last month.

The rampaging macaques are thought to have been made hypersexual and violent when they consumed too much sugar during an annual festival.

The city of Lopburi was completely overrun by some 3,500 monkeys, with certain parts considered complete no-go zones due to gangs vying for power in the streets.

Chimpanzees – The closest living relative of humans

CHIMPS are considered humans’ closest living relatives, sharing between 95 and 98 percent of the same DNA.

But when it comes to muscle power, there’s really no comparison between the two, say wildlife experts.

And if it ever comes to a one-on-one battle there would be only one winner, said Steve Ross of Chicago’s Lincoln Park Zoo.

When they fight, “it’s the closest thing to human warfare,” says Ross, director of the Study of Conservation of Apes.

“Chimpanzees are incredibly strong and fast, so humans are easily overpowered.”

Scientific research suggests that the difference in strength between the two has to do with how well the muscles perform.

In chimpanzees, the muscle fibers closest to the bones (which are considered the source of strength) are much longer and denser.

This means a chimpanzee can generate more force despite the exact same range of motion, experts say.

However, unlike humans, they have much less control over how they use their muscles – so use more force than necessary.
