JURGEN KLOPP's shock announcement that he will leave Liverpool at the end of the season has sparked speculation about which players will follow him out the door.
The German boss appeared to be halfway through rebuilding his squad and has the Reds in first place in the league.
But he told Liverpool in November last year that he does not have the energy to complete the remaining years of his contract.
Klopp informed fans of his shocking decision on Friday.
There has, of course, been talk about which players from the Klopp era could follow the boss when he leaves Anfield this summer.
Virgil van Dijk opened the door to speculation over his future when he said he would like to see who replaces Klopp before committing his future to Liverpool.
So here's a look at the players who could follow Klopp's exit…
Virgil van Dijk
Van Dijk is so far the only player to have discussed his future in relation to Klopp's.
The Liverpool captain was asked if he would follow Klopp in leaving Liverpool at the end of the season and said: “That's a big question. I don't know.
“The club has a big job to do. To replace not only the manager but the entire staff, there are so many things that will change.
“I am very curious to see which way that will go, but when that becomes known, we will see our situation. I can't say much about it.
“It's clear that this is the end of the Jürgen Klopp era. I'm very happy that I'm still part of it. That's why I don't like to talk about it. I'm still part of it.”
Mohammed Salah
Liverpool's undisputed talisman was already subject to intense transfer speculation before Klopp made his shock announcement.
The winger faced several bids from Saudi clubs last summer, with some bids exceeding £150 million.
At the age of 31, Salah is entering the final phase of his career and Liverpool already have an eye on a possible successor.
His 14 goals in 20 league appearances this season will be difficult to replace, but an expensive Saudi transfer could be the perfect opportunity for Liverpool to further build their squad.
Alisson
At the club since 2018, Alisson is hardly a front-runner to leave, and the Reds are undoubtedly keen to keep hold of him.
Despite turning 31 last year, Alisson is still the best goalkeeper in the Premier League.
But his rare status as a superstar goalkeeper could pique the interest of Saudi Arabia if they look to sign another landmark signing this summer.
Joe Gomes
Never a guaranteed starter at Liverpool, Gomez could leave in search of guaranteed minutes.
Gomez, 26, has stepped into defense where necessary during Klopp's reign and has ably replaced Andy Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas at left-back in recent times.
He has been linked to the likes of West Ham and Newcastle in the past and could finally leave this summer in search of a new challenge.
Joel Matip
Joel Matip's season ended in December when he suffered an ACL injury.
He is a favorite under Klopp and will play under a new manager at Liverpool once he finally completes the lengthy rehabilitation process for the injury.
Liverpool is now 32 and could cash in on the defender if a suitable offer comes along in the summer window.
