The unknown man walked along the tracks of Gare du Nord station in Paris on Thursday evening.

A police source said: “He climbed onto the roof of a Eurostar car which was standing motionless.

“He had previously been seen crossing nearby tracks, apparently not realizing how dangerous the situation was.

“He stood up and then there was a fireball.”

Emergency services rushed to the scene and the fire brigade managed to extinguish the fire around 10 p.m.

But despite their best efforts, the man died just minutes after being struck by the overhead wire.

He was left “unrecognizable”, the source said after the horrific accident.

Early police investigations suggest he was an immigrant who slept in Paris and tried to move to Britain.

Gare du Nord, the central station of Paris and the busiest station in France, was confronted with another horror incident a few days ago.

a knifeman went on a rampage in the stationwounding at least six people before being shot by police.

And shockingly, this isn't the first incident of someone climbing onto a train at the station.

In 2017, one man suffered serious burns as a result.

Just two years earlier, a teenager was thrown from a train there by the force of another electric shock, seriously injuring him.
