Afcon chaos when goalkeeper was sent off after just 17 minutes for handball

ANGOLA goalkeeper Neblu was sent off for a handball outside his area against Namibia.

The two African countries face each other in the last sixteen of the Africa Cup of Nations, but Pedro Goncalves' side got off to a horrific start.

Careless defending by Angola led to Kialonda Gaspar being dispossessed at the back by Bethuel Muzeu, who had only the Angolan keeper to beat.

However, Neblu came off his line too quickly and found himself outside his penalty area.

Muzeu saw his chance and delivered a shot that left shot stopper Primeiro de Agosto with no choice but to clear the ball.

However, the 30-year-old's hands were outside his penalty area and the referee issued a straight red card after just 17 minutes.

Afcon fans were in disbelief at Neblu's response and took to social media.

One fan tweeted: “Angola goalkeeper thinks he's playing basketball.”

Another wrote: “Afcon unbeaten, Angola keeper sent off for handball.”

And he shouted: “Wow.”

But in a shock twist, Angola managed to turn the mood around as they scored twice within four minutes thanks to a brace from Gelson Dala.

And Namibia also had its own player sent off the field five minutes before half-time in Lubeni Pombili Haukongo.
