Delhi: It is the season of arguably the greatest rivalry in Test cricket – the Ashes – played between England and Australia. What has made the season popular and extremely interesting is the English ‘Bazball’ theory. They may have lost the opening test at Edgbaston by a whisker, but England captain Ben Stokes vowed to carry on the aggressive brand of cricket as they believe this is the future of the game. So if England can do it, why can’t India have those bigger names and better quality in their squad? And what better time to try against a team like the West Indies.

In this piece, we will provide reasons why India should use the Bazball template:

If England can do it, India certainly can: This is certainly not the best English line-up, but they are successful because they play to a plan and believe in it. It is high risk cricket but it is growing in popularity and most believe that more teams will start playing the ‘Bazball’ route in the near future. If so, why can’t India start that in the Caribbean itself in the two Tests against a mediocre Windies team.

Follow the TREND: The trend has already started, thanks to England. Now, before India is too late, they need to start the ‘Bazball’ template of the Windies tour themselves. Why wait for a few more teams to get started?

We are about two weeks away from the first Test versus Windies. The first test in Dominica will begin on July 12.
