Aldi's version is the same 114g size and sells for 85p, compared to £1.40 for the original noodle.

The move has sent customers into hysterics, with one customer posting online: “This is the funniest thing I've ever seen. Pot Noodle will be angry!'

Another said: “I love it when @AldiUK does this! I love a #potnoodle Bombay Bad Boy…. So hats off to Aldi's Mumbai Mad Boy. Good stuff!”

And a third joined in: “This is top Aldi. I don't think I could love them more.”

Aldi previously sparked a legal war with Marks & Spencer over its own lookalike version of the M&S Colin the Caterpillar cake, calling it Cuthbert.

Other own brands include Nutella lookalike Nutoka and Aero choc bar clone Bubbly.

Mumbai Mad Boys, part of the Bramwells Express Mega Snack Noodles range, is described as: “Dried noodles in a hot curry flavor sauce with vegetables and a sachet of hot chilli sauce.”

YouTuber Gareth Morgan, known as the Bald Foodie Guy, reviewed one.

He told fans: “I've had the Bombay Bad Boy and they have a lot of heat.

“In terms of heat, I don't think it's that hot, but you can always add some chili sauce.

'There are even peas in here, so I'll get some healthy vegetables. If you want to save a few bucks, give it a try.”

Golden Wonder launched Pot Noodle in 1977.

It quickly became a staple food for students and was bought by Best Foods in 1995 for around £200 million.

Unilever took over in 2000.

Aldi and Unilever were contacted for comment.
