A mother of three who was found dead in southern Sydney planned to fly to Lebanon for a holiday with her children after gaining Australian citizenship.

The body of 30-year-old Amira Moghnieh was discovered just before 6 p.m. on Wednesday at a home in Bexley.

Her estranged husband, Ahmad Hodroj, 39, was arrested at the scene and charged.

It has now emerged that Ms Moghnieh had spent the past few days celebrating being granted citizenship and an Australian passport and was planning to take her children to Lebanon – where she was born – to see relatives.

Ms Moghnieh’s death has sparked a wave of emotions in the family.

Her children are between two and six years old.

“From the greed of this world, my sister is gone, gone,” her sister said.

Daily Mail Australia understands that Hodroj and Ms Moghnieh had been separated for a year when she arrived at his house on Wednesday evening to collect her young children.

Her cousin Fadi said Hodroj had wanted to talk to Ms Moghnieh about their divorce settlement, which was due to be finalized later this month.

“He has three houses and she would get part of his property,” said Fadi.

Selfless Ms. Moghnieh had worked for the NDIS in Bankstown and has three children between the ages of two and six.

Hodroj appeared before Sutherland local court on Thursday, where he did not seek bail. He must appear in court again in August.

Daily Mail Australia understands that Hodroj is employed by a company that works for Qantas. He is not an employee of Qantas and has not been for several years.

A former colleague said he was “very shocked” by the news.

“His wife used to bring him lunch to work. Sometimes he shared it. She was a good cook,’ he said.

Fadi said Ms Moghnieh didn’t have many relatives in Australia but had many friends, some of whom left online tributes to the young mother.

“May your soul rest in heaven, my love,” one wrote.

“You will always be remembered in our hearts forever.”
