As we age, our lips begin to lose volume and show fine lines – similar to the delicate skin around our eyes.

But when it comes to anti-aging beauty efforts, the lips are often overlooked when we focus our attention on the under-eye area and crow's feet.

In fact, research has shown that the lips are one of the most prominent places to show signs of aging.

Luckily, makeup artists with years of experience in the game have come up with ways to bring youth back to aging lips.

That includes celebrity MUA Erica Taylor, who has come up with a lip liner hack to create a look of fullness and plumpness without filler.

She instructed women over 40 to lift their lower lip liner “for the corner” to round their lips, creating the illusion of a fuller pout.

For the upper lip, she recommended the same technique: “cutting off the corner” as you drag the lip liner to the edges of the mouth.

The MUA also advised women to raise the cupid's bow to bring the upper lip “closer to the nose.”

Her viral hack was tried and tested by adult beauticians Erika Fenimorewho shared her assessment on Instagram.

The 51-year-old called it “another valuable tip on how to get fuller lips with your lip liner” with a demonstration for her 140,000 followers.

Once the lip liner was applied, Erika dabbed on a light lipstick with her finger to show off the “old vs. new” vibe.

“I'm definitely a lip liner girl,” Stephanie Fender said of her tutorial.

“I'm totally trying this.”

As we age, the supporting collagen, fat pads and muscles in and around the lip area begin to collapse.

This creates the appearance of thinner lips that are more visible.

These changes usually begin around age 40 and become more noticeable as the years go by.

There are plenty of advanced and invasive treatments you can try to restore volume to your lips, but the safest way is to learn mature skin-friendly beauty techniques.
