A Victorian construction company has gone bankrupt, leaving the fate of a raft of projects up in the air.

After a lengthy process, North Melbourne-based Apex Homes Australia was ordered into liquidation by the High Court on Wednesday on grounds of insolvency.

Creditors include concrete company Aerolink Property Group, which filed for liquidation earlier this year citing unpaid debts of $46,200.

Other companies that have filed a claim against the company include Home and Industrial Soil, Austral Group, ATC Co, the Commissioner of State Revenue and Bristol Roofing.

BDO has been appointed as liquidator of the company. Obviously, there are more than a dozen projects that the company has under construction.

One customer complained on a Facebook group that his construction site had been “just sitting there with the slab and framework” for two years.

Another customer told me news.com.au they were concerned for the staff affected by the company’s collapse, but also relieved that the story had come to an end.

“While we are disappointed that this has happened and we feel for the employees and staff, at least our family can now put the stress of the past 12 months behind them,” they said.

It is understood that the company, like much of the wider construction industry, has struggled with the ongoing pressures of Covid lockdowns, supply chain disruptions and rising material costs.

Daily Mail Australia has contacted Apex Homes Australia for comment.
