Director Oni Sen on Asur’s season 3 schedule

While appreciating the success of Asur And assur 2, Oni Sen emphasized that the decision to continue with Season 3 of Asur would not be dictated by their performance alone. He emphasized the importance of creating something valuable and engaging as each season’s development process involves a significant investment of time and energy and takes approximately 1.5 to 2 years to complete. It’s critical for Sen and Shukla to come up with an idea that’s both noteworthy and worth sharing with the world before embarking on another episode.

Arshad Warsi, the protagonist of the spooky series, said in one of his interviews that he wants to Asur 3 to happen. When we asked the director the same thing, he said, ‘I hear him. There’s one thing, there’s a backstory and subtext, both Gaurav Shukla (creator) and I discussed it. Neither of us are doing this for anything other than the fun of making it, because it’s not about money or anything else. Ek ek season create karne mein 1.5-2 years lag jaata hai and kaafi blood loss hota hai. So therefore it should be something worthwhile and worth creating.”

Oni Sen continued, “Ek cheez hum believe karte hai only because Asur and Asur 2 became successful, aise nahi hai kuch bhi karke we have to do season 3. We’re still thinking about it. Once we have an idea that is worth telling and fantastic, we will definitely tell it, but until we think about it.”

Oni Sen praises Arshad Warsi, calls him chameleon

The conversation then shifted to Arshad Warsi’s transformative journey as an actor, moving from the likeable Circuit to the complex character of DJ in Asur. Sen expressed surprise at Warsi’s versatility, describing him as an almost chameleon-like figure. The director admitted that he was initially unaware of Warsi’s ability to seamlessly embody a variety of roles. He found it awe-inspiring and sometimes even disturbing to see Warsi transform in a matter of seconds.

Director Oni Sen said, “Arshad is almost a chameleon, which I didn’t know before Asur. Vo Kuch bhi ban sakte hai. It’s a bit scary sometimes because vo ek second mein kuch bhi ban sakte hain. After the first meeting, we talked a lot about how DJ’s character works and lives.”

Sen and Warsi engaged in extensive discussions to unravel the intricacies of DJ’s character – his way of speaking, walking, and the darkness that pervaded his mind. Warsi’s dedication to portraying DJ’s emotional journey marked by emptiness and despair took the character to new heights in Season 2. Sen continued, “DJ baat kaise karenge, chalenge kaise, DJ ke mann mein kya chal raha hai darkness in his mind. Kaafi khalipan hai unki life mein and especially in season 2, DJ goes to a whole other level. So yeah, we did a lot of homework for Asur and it worked out beautifully.”

The process of bringing Asur to life required painstaking preparation and an unwavering commitment to storytelling. Director Oni Sen expressed his gratitude for the collaboration and tremendous effort of the entire team, resulting in a beautifully crafted series that captivated viewers.
