Ashu Malik plays the role of captain as Dabang Delhi beat Gujarat Giants 35-28

Dabang Delhi got off to a strong start as they took a 4-0 lead, but Gujarat Giants worked their way back into the match through an excellent multi-point strike from Rakesh HS.

NOIDA: Dabang Delhi extended their unbeaten run to 4 matches as they registered a 35-28 comeback win over Gujarat Giants in the Pro Kabaddi League Season 10 match at the Noida Indoor Stadium on Tuesday. Stand-in skipper Ashu Malik was the star player for Dabang Delhi as he finished with a Super 10, while Manjeet picked up 9 raid points.

Dabang Delhi got off to a strong start as they took a 4-0 lead, but Gujarat Giants worked their way back into the match through an excellent multi-point strike from Rakesh HS. Like Rakesh, Parteek Dahiya also produced a two-point strike soon after, which caused a lot of problems for Dabang Delhi as they were reduced to one defender. The inevitable happened soon afterwards when Dabang Delhi, playing without captain Naveen Kumar, was on the receiving end of an ALL OUT with Gujarat Giants leading 11-9.

Gujarat Giants captain Fazel Atrachali achieved a huge milestone when he trapped Ashu in one of his trademark ankle holds and went on to reach the milestone of 450 tackle points. The Iranian defender’s team went into halftime with a 16-14 lead.

Manjeet, Dabang Delhi’s second striker in the match, got his side off to a fiery start in the second half before Ashu took over the reins. Ashu, who captained Dabang Delhi in Naveen’s absence, outwitted four defenders in two attacks, including Fazel, to leave Gujarat Giants in trouble. Ashu was in the thick of it again as he then made a tackle on Sonu Jaglan to give his team the lead. The ALL OUT followed shortly afterwards and Dabang Delhi took a 4 point lead at 28-24.

Both sides traded blows in the final five minutes but Dabang Delhi’s lead proved too big for Gujarat Giants to overtake. Ashu defeated Fazel again in his final bout to complete his Super 10 as Dabang Delhi sealed a hard-fought comeback win.
