New Delhi: The Kraigg Brathwaite-led West Indies side defeated Pat Cummins' Australia by 8 runs in the second Test at the Gabba in Brisbane on January 28, recording their first Test victory on Australian soil after 27 years. Shamar Joseph was the hero of this win with his 7-wicket haul in the second innings.

Shamar Joseph finished with 7/68 and completely destroyed the Australian batting line-up. Australia had to chase 216 runs to win the second Test as well. However, they fell eight points short and the Windies managed to avoid a series loss.

This was also Australia's first red ball loss following their World Test Championship final victory against the Indian cricket team last year.

“Shout out to my teammates for their support. I wouldn't even get on the floor today. But thanks to the doctor he did something about my toe. It was just our positivity, taking wickets after wickets. Sticking to our basic principles, just sticking to the top of the stump. I really think so, I really feel like we won the series, it's 1-1, but it feels like we won it,” Shamar Joseph said after his historic performance.

“Tears come to my eyes, but I was already crying when I took the five-wicket haul. Just happy that we won this Test, we can celebrate and be happy. I wasn't that tired, I told my captain I would bowl till the end until the last wicket falls. No matter what my toe was, I would give it my all,” he added.
