Australian billionaire and property developer Lang Walker has died at the age of 79.

The property mogul was surrounded by his wife and three children during his final moments at his Woolloomooloo home, on Sydney's North Shore.

Walker was known for shaping much of post-war life in Australia's suburbs and was one of the country's wealthiest businessmen.

The veteran was also the founder of Walker Corporation, his family's private real estate development group.

According to reports, Lang's health had been declining for some time, with multiple hospitalizations over the Christmas holidays.

In 2015 he was awarded the Order of Australia for his efforts and community service.

Lang's total combined wealth was estimated to be around $2.5 billion (£1.2 billion). Forbes.

The website listed him as the 18th richest person in Australia.

He was also said to own a fleet of yachts, all named Kokomo – a name he used for every boat he owned except one.

Among his assets was a 140-hectare private island in Fiji, which he bought in 2011.

The island, also called Kokomo, was opened to visitors in March 2017.

His death was confirmed by his family on Sunday.

Lang's wife, Sue, and three adult children, Blake, Chad and Georgia, were by his side when he passed away overnight.

He also had ten grandchildren.
