Fortunately, there are actions you can take to speed it up, according to users on Reddit.

One user specific noted that you can make your Android phone faster by doubling the animation speed in the settings.

Changing your phone's animation speed can make the settings move faster when you interact with it.

“A swipe to go home will move the window faster, while swiping between apps will switch quickly,” say experts at Lifehacker noted.

However, you can't just go into your settings to change this feature; you need to enter Android's hidden developer mode.

HOW ARE YOU DOING THIS

To enable developer mode, you need to go to Settings > About phone.

From here, scroll down and tap 'Build Number' seven times. You may need to authenticate yourself.

Now that you are in developer mode, you can change the animation speed of your device.

Go to Settings, tap System and scroll down to Developer Options.

Here, tap Draw and you'll see three animation scale options: Window, Transition, and Animator Duration.

'Criminals can eavesdrop on you', say experts who warn all iPhone and Android users not to log in with 'text codes' anymore

For each of these options, change the setting from 1x to .5x because the smaller the number, the faster the animation.

Reddit users who own Androids said the trick made a difference, calling it “amazing.”

“Damn. Makes it seem a little TOO fast! Good LPT,” another person commented.

ADDITIONAL TIPS

Changing the animation speed isn't the only way you can improve your device's performance.

You can also clean up large amounts of data that are causing your device to crash.

Go to Settings > Storage and identify space hogs, then delete unused apps and clear the app cache.

You can also transfer large files, such as photos and videos, to another device or USB drive.

Keeping your software up to date also helps your device perform at optimal levels.

This also helps keep your phone free from bugs and malicious software.

Make sure you have the latest version by going to Settings > System > System Update.
