The autopsy of Oaklee Mae Snow, the little blue-eyed baby girl whose heavily decomposed body was found hidden in the bottom of a chest of drawers, died of “means unknown,” the coroner’s office revealed.

The youngster was just shy of turning two when she went missing on Jan. 19. After an extensive search, Oaklee’s remains were found on April 21 in an abandoned house in central Indiana, nearly three months after her disappearance.

The results of Oaklee’s autopsy were completed this week by the Morgan County Coroner’s Office, but the manner and cause of death remain a mystery, as officials describe her death as “homicide by unspecified means.”

Oaklee’s young mother, Madison Marshall, 22, and Marshall’s boyfriend, Roan Waters, 25, were later charged in connection with the baby’s death and kidnapping. Law & Crime reported.

Marshall was charged with numerous counts, including neglect of a dependent resulting in death and aiding a criminal, WTHR-TV reported.

When Marion County Prosecutor Ryan Mears announced the charges, he said Oaklee had “suffered a horrific death and abandonment, degrading the dignity every child deserves.”

He added: “As parents, we have a duty to protect our children.

The toddler’s biological father, Zachary Snow, told authorities that Oaklee and her brother were taken from his Cromwell, Oklahoma home by their mother and mother’s boyfriend without his knowledge or consent.

The couple had traveled to Indianapolis — more than 700 miles and a 12-hour drive — from Oklahoma in early March, according to the Indianapolis Police Department.

Marshall told authorities she was in Indianapolis to drop her son off at someone’s house, but made no mention of Oaklee. Waters’ mother reportedly lives in Indiana.

Investigators determined that Marshall was last seen with her two children in Indianapolis. A witness reported seeing what appeared to be a child wrapped in a blanket who was not moving or crying.

On April 21, the remains of a child were found in rural Morgan County, about 27 miles south of Indianapolis, police said.

Marshall told investigators that Waters killed the toddler and hid the body in the dresser at a house in Morgantown, Indiana, according to court documents obtained by KOCO.

Marshall was “hysterical and sobbing” as she led detectives to the house.
