Bizarre moment ‘Enamored Brit tries to cross the border on foot into Putin’s Russia to meet online girlfriend’
THIS is the bizarre moment a lovesick Brit tries to cross the Russian border on foot in the hope of meeting his online girlfriend.
Branded a ‘stubborn Englishman’, the lovelorn 37-year-old has reportedly tried to cross the border twice Kaliningrada western Russian enclave between Poland And Lithuania.

The 37-year-old Briton is said to have arrived at the Polish border in his car BMW but without a visa or vehicle documents to be admitted Russia.
He told the guards he had to cross the border at Grzechotki to meet his new girlfriend 700 miles away in St. Petersburg.
The territory of Kaliningrad, next one to the NATO borders, is used as headquarters for Russia’s Baltic Fleet and some of its most powerful weapons, including hypersonic missiles.
Footage shows him apparently trying to get through on foot along forest roads before he was arrested.
He claimed his navigation system was defective.
Polish border guards said the Englishman was “stubborn”, adding: “Officials from the border guard station in Grzechotki detained an Englishman who was driving onto the border road.
‘The man wanted to go there Russia. The purpose of his journey was a girl he met on the internet.”
“At the Grzechotki border crossing at 2am on February 23, a British citizen on his way to the border appeared at customs. Poland.
“The man did not have a visa for Russia or a vehicle registration certificate.
“He claimed he wanted to go to St. Petersburg to visit his fiancée, whom he met online.
“Border guards informed the traveler that he could not cross the border because he did not have the required documents.
“A few hours later the 37-year-old drove his BMW to the area of the Polish-Russian border, the so-called green border.
“Around 5:30 a.m., Border Guard cameras recorded a man driving onto the border road.
“The detained Englishman explained to the border guards that the navigation had led him wrong.”
After being fined £120, the Brit was released and told guards he would try to enter Russia via Lithuania.
The border guard spokesman said: “He said he wanted to meet the girl he met online so badly that he decided to go to Lithuania and from there to Russia.
“PSG officers in Grzechotki fined the 37-year-old man PLN 500 for entering the border strip [GBP 100]. The Englishman also paid 100 PLN [GBP 20] for failing to obey the B-1’s ‘Traffic Prohibited in Both Directions’ sign.”
