The flight was descending Portland International Airport of Washington DC when there was a small crack in the inner window.

Despite the scare, the pilots managed to land the plane, which had 159 passengers and six crew members on board, safely.

Alaska Airlines confirmed in a statement that the crack occurred when the Boeing 737 planes landed.

“The crew followed their checklists and the aircraft flew safely to its destination,” the airline said.

“Alaska Airlines’ 737 fleet is equipped with five-layer windshields with an outer glass, three inner layers and an inner glass.

“If one interior window cracks, the other window and layers can maintain cabin pressure.”

According to the company, the aircraft will be inspected and repaired by engineers on the ground.

The Sun has contacted Boeing for comment.

The incident is just the latest incident American airline has faced so far this year.

It comes just days after a Boeing plane it turned out that an external panel was missing after a short flight.

The plane landed safely, but the missing section was not noticed by the crew during the 90-minute journey. Investigations are now underway.

Last week a Boeing 777 had to make an emergency landing a “mechanical problem” caused one of the tires to “burst”.

The plane had left Dallas, Texas with 249 passengers on board before it was due to land Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) just hours later as firefighters rushed to the runway.

Less than 48 hours earlier, footage captured the shock moment United Airlines Boeing777 leaked hydraulic fluid during takeoff before being forced to make an emergency landing.

The United Airlines flight quickly lost hydraulic pressure after becoming airborne as smoke and fluid began pouring out, with the crew receiving no warnings for nearly two hours.

On March 7, a wheel fell off a crowded plane during takeoff at an airport San Franciscocausing cars to be crushed underneath.

Emergency crews were on standby at LAX Airport as the plane made an uneventful landing, coming to a stop about two-thirds of the way down the runway.

But the most notable incident occurred earlier this year a fuselage panel ripped off an Alaskan Airlines flight in mid-air and forced the plane to make an emergency landing in Portland.

a A criminal investigation has now been launched into Boeing about the terrifying door slam from over 6,000 meters on January 5.
