THE Met Office has issued a yellow warning for rain – flooding and travel chaos are expected.
Heavy rain will drench the east and southwest England overnight, forecasters said.
Yellow rain warnings are in effect for the east coast Essex until Newcastle and for a large part of the West Country.
The rain can flood housesroads and railways – an incentive for travel delays.
Some areas covered could see as much as 30mm of rain warnings.
The yellow rain warning for the South West remains in force until 6am tomorrow morning, and the warning for the east coast will last until noon.
But the rain will continue tomorrow, spreading across the west and becoming thunderstorms.
The Environment Agency has issued 82 'expected' flood warnings and 262 'possible' flood warnings across England.
Some relatively fortunate parts of Britain may experience a mix of clear spells and patchy fog.
Monday will be changeable with sunny periods and showers, after which the rain will definitely return on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Temperatures will hover around annual average, although mild in the south.
