‘Britain’s Most Tattooed Man’ – who has admitted to spending more than £40,000 on ink in the past – has revealed he’s giving up the needle for good until he pays off his mortgage.

The body art enthusiast, 43, has even changed his name to King Of Ink Land King Body Art The Extreme Ink-ite.

He has explained in the past that the bank would not let him open an account because of the nickname, which used to be Mathew Whelan, which he has had since 2008.

But the actor says he is now giving up his lifestyle choice in a bid to pay off his £66,000 mortgage and says he hopes to pay off the amount over the next four years.

“Getting tattoos can be an addiction, but this is a lifestyle for me, which I can start and pause whenever I want,” said King Of Ink Land from Birmingham.

“I’m taking a break from inking as I focus on paying off my mortgage, so I’ll be taking it easy for the next few years.”

The ink fiend says he might still get tattoos “every two years,” but he has a budget plan.

“This means I will have to restrict my lifestyle,” he said. “But I’ll be glad when that’s over.”

King of Ink Land, known as Body Art for short, claims to have spent over 1,500 hours under the needle, setting the record in February 2016 when he had 36 tattoo artists work on him at once.

While he hasn’t kept track of how much it’s cost him so far, he claims his bank manager would have preferred to keep the money in an ISA rather than on his skin.

Since his interest in body modifications started at the age of nine, he colored his eyes black, removed his nipples, shaped his ears and finally changed his aforementioned name to achieve his goal.

He added, “I live an abbreviation of my name, B Art, as I am art in my life, regardless of what others say or think about my tattoos.

“I last had ink put on me in January of this year when I had my left arm blacked out to cover up previous tattoos.

‘She [the tattoos] are part of my journey, and I will evolve at some point in the future – just not anytime soon.”

And surprisingly, he predicted his dog with a tattoo he got at age 16, of a bulldog that resembles his real life furry friend.

“My very first tattoo has become a reality,” he gushed.

‘I’ve never owned a dog in my life, because I’ve always loved exotic animals, like reptiles.

“But it was kind of strange that my first K9 also happened to be the same animal, facial features and all, that was also my first tattoo on this trip.

‘Animals are much better than humans, they bond with you and become a family member very quickly.

“I’ve had snakes, rats, hamsters, and turtles before, and I’ve had them tattooed on me, too.”
