A British tourist has reportedly been raped at a spa in Milan.

The woman, 29, claims she was sexually assaulted by a 25-year-old tattooed man in the middle of the city, local media report.

She claims the man approached her at the Terme di Milano spa while she was relaxing with a friend.

Both the tourist and the man reportedly knew each other and had consumed alcohol alcohol together.

He allegedly invited her to follow him to the men's locker room, where he became violent and raped her, according to Italian newspaper Il Giorno.

The alleged incident is said to have occurred on Monday around 10 p.m.

It reportedly ended when the British tourist screamed for help and her friend came to her aid, causing the man to flee.

The woman reported the alleged attack when she returned to her hotel around 11 p.m Police began their search for the man.

Local reports say the alleged attacker is 25 years old and Italian-Moroccan with distinction tattoos.

Police indicated they were able to use surveillance footage from the area to identify the man, but he has reportedly not been arrested.

CCTV footage from the spa showed the British woman following the man “unopposed” into the men's changing room and then into a toilet cubicle. Corriere Milan reports.

The woman reportedly told investigators she was “too drunk” to resist or consent.

When she was taken to the hospital, police were ordered by the local prosecutor to confiscate her clothes for examination.

She reportedly returned to England on Tuesday.
