King Charles received biodiversity gifts from an Amazon tribe at a Dubai hotel along with Foreign Secretary Lord Cameron for the Cop28 summit.

Charles, 75, attended a Commonwealth and Nature reception at the hotel, hosted by Secretary General of the Commonwealth Baroness Scotland.

In addition to the king, indigenous leaders from various Commonwealth countries were also present.

Joenia Wapichana, 59, president of the indigenous organization FUNAI in Brazil and of the Truaru tribe in Roraima state, presented the king with a handmade decorated wooden bird.

The bird, ‘Arara’, is a native Amazonian bird that is a “symbol of biodiversity” and mimics the human voice, she said.

“He really liked the gift and I thanked him for everything he has done to help protect biodiversity in the Amazon,” she added.
