Defiant Pochettino has been triggered by a section of Blues fans singing for old boss Jose Mourinho during last weekend’s frustrating 2-2 draw with Brentford.

The Argentine said: “If the players believe they can do better with another coach, maybe they can talk to the owner or sporting director.

“Can you see I’m worried about this? No. Is it an attitude problem? No. You can tell by the way they behave that they have our backs. Of course there is no doubt.

“They do everything they can to win. And to give the best of themselves. There’s no doubt about that.

“I respect Jose, he is my friend. He was great for this club, his memories here are great. Circumstance is circumstance.

“We have to push and believe in ourselves and accept the things that come from the fans – respect the fans.

“It’s a different project, today it’s a different Chelsea. If you start to judge us and analyze the situation compared to Chelsea’s past, no one will win, no one will succeed.

“The fans won’t love another Chelsea coach. People have to understand that it’s different. I try to explain it but it’s like I’m moving my mouth and they don’t hear anything.”

Chelsea won seven major trophies, including three Premier League titles, in two spells under Mourinho.

They gained a reputation for buying up expensive stars under the previous ownership of Roman Abramovich.

Who could be Chelsea’s next manager after Pochettino?

The Blues have lost one Carabao Cup final – against Liverpool – under the new regime, which will complete two years in power this summer.
Americans Boehly and Iranian-born Behdad Eghbali have lost £1 BILLION in the transfer market.

It means Pochettino and his trusted backroom staff will be under immense pressure to perform when they play Newcastle on Monday night.

He said: “We like a challenge – we accept coming here knowing it’s never easy with the pressure and the feeling of being Chelsea and having to win.

“It’s a young team and we have to build, you have to be honest while the infrastructure is being rebuilt and restructured.

“It is important not to compare with the past, because you are always going to lose, that is impossible.

“I want to be successful and I want Chelsea to be successful and I hope people understand this and support this idea.”

Pochettino has one season left on his two-year contract and insists he will not walk away. When asked if he would stop his ‘project’ he replied: “Ah no no no. Why? Never.”
