Chhat Puja: special train between Puri and Patna; Check the times

The Puri-Patna special train 08449 departs Puri at 11:30 PM on Mondays and Wednesdays. On the return journey, the 08450 Patna-Puri Special departs Patna on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6:00 PM.

Travelers were shocked by the overcrowded train full of passengers without tickets.

IRCTC update: Keeping in view the additional flow of passengers in regular trains and for the convenience of the passengers, the East Coast Railway of Indian Railways has decided to run two special trains between Puri and Patna for the upcoming Chhat Puja.

The 08449 Puri-Patna Special Train departs from Puri on Mondays and Wednesdays at 11:30 PM. On the return journey the 08450 Patna-Puri Special departs from Patna on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6:00 PM.

“East Coast Railway has arranged for two trains to run from Puri to Patna on November 13 and 15. We expect a lot of crowds and that is why the train has a capacity of 1000 people. He will return from Patna on November 14 and 16… We have increased RPF security…” said Biswajit Sahu, East Coast Rail Chief PRO.

Rituals for the Chhath Puja begin on November 17 and last until November 20.

Meanwhile, the sale of platform tickets at New Delhi and Anand Vihar railway stations has been temporarily suspended to control the additional influx of passengers and ensure better crowd management on the occasion of Diwali and Chhat Puja.

Platform tickets will no longer be sold at these two locations from November 13 (today), the Northern Railway division of Indian Railways said on Monday. It will remain in effect until November 18.

However, persons who come to the stations only to assist elderly, illiterate and female passengers who are unable to look after themselves will be exempted from this restriction.

A platform ticket is a type of train ticket issued by major train stations that allows the bearer to access the platforms of a train station but not to board or use train services.

This allows people to walk with their friends and loved ones all the way to the passenger car at stations where the general public is not allowed onto the platforms. It is valid for 2 hours from the time of issue.
