Plane crash in Cootharaba backyard: Woman rushed to hospital after light aircraft somersaults during emergency landing in Noosa
A minor plane crash has left a woman in hospital after the plane somersaulted during an emergency landing in a rural backyard.
The woman, in her 50s, was taken to hospital with back pain, while another male pilot, also in his 50s, climbed out of the wreckage with only minor injuries from the crash in the Noosa region of southeast Queensland.
Emergency services, including a rescue helicopter, attended the incident at Greenfield Lane in Cootharaba at around 9am on Sunday morning.
The plane, which was taken by the couple for a joyride, was apparently hit by a gust of wind, causing it to spin and lose control.

RACQ LifeFlight Rescue aircrew officer Scott Reeman shared The Cairns Post the plane was trying to land in a backyard when it “somersaulted” and crashed into a tree.
“He cut down a palm tree in the garden of a house while he was in the air, then cartwheeled across the garden and cut down another tree,” he said.
A Queensland Police spokesperson described the incident as a rough landing on a private airstrip.
The woman was flown to Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.
The male pilot suffered minor cuts and refused to be taken to hospital.
