Dana Carvey revealed he was still coming to terms with the shock death of his son Dex during the latest episode of the series Fly on the Wall with Dana Carvey and David Spade podcast, which was released Wednesday.

The 68-year-old actor's eldest child died at the age of 32 after an accidental overdose last November.

The comedian – who received outpouring of support following the death of his son – told his long-time friend that he, as well as the rest of his family, were still deeply affected by their loss.

Carvey said, “I'm kind of on the pain train with about millions of other people on this planet. And you don't know how long you're doing it, when it will stop or get better.'

The artist added that while he thought it was “really sweet” that many of his fans had reached out to him to express their condolences, he was primarily focused on the well-being of his family.

The Wayne's World actor noted, “It's mine and my wife's private trip and our son's.”

Carvey further stated that he had spent a significant amount of time with his wife Paula and their youngest son Thomas, 30, in the months since Dex's death.

'We are all together. And we do a lot of fun things. We walk, we go to church. You just want to make sure you keep moving,” he said.

The family lives in the San Francisco suburb of Mill Valley.

He also stated that a return to podcasting will be “really healthy for me as I recover.”

Carvey took to social media last November to share a solemn message with his 262,000 followers following the sudden death of his son.

The actor explained that he would be taking a break from work and being active online.

In cursive black font against a white background, he said, “I'm going to take a break from social media and try to figure out what life is like now that we're a family of three.”

The note began: “My wife and I are overwhelmed by your love, your personal stories, your compassion.”

He added: “We have received so many lovely messages from people who knew Dex. These have touched us more than we can ever express in words.'

'Dex has put a lot into those 32 years. He was extremely talented in so many things – music, art, filmmaking, comedy – and followed them all passionately.”

The couple added that Dex “loved his family, his friends and his girlfriend Kaylee above all else. Dex was a beautiful person. His handmade birthday cards are a treasure. We will miss him forever.'

The statement concluded: “To anyone struggling with addiction or who loves someone struggling with addiction, you are in our hearts and prayers.”

Amid the news of his death, Carvey posted a few images of Dex on Twitter. He captioned one of the shots: “Dex and I working together. What a pleasure.'

Dex died Wednesday evening at his home in Los Angeles. His girlfriend called emergency services around 10 p.m., police said TMZ.

Dex “was locked in a bathroom,” police told the newspaper, and “was unresponsive when discovered.” It was reported that paramedics attempted to revive Dex, who was subsequently “pronounced dead at the scene.”

An autopsy has been performed, but the results of toxicology tests have not been released.
