The dark side of Australia’s scandal-ridden mummy influencers – from stopping flights so they can eat their oysters to fundraising controversies and court hearings

Mommy bloggers took the internet by storm in the early 2000s with their tips, tricks, and relatable content for parents.

And while the online sphere proved to be lucrative for parents who shared every detail of their lives, some quickly discovered that there was no control over what came out.

From mothers flogging their children’s crafts online, to animal abuse scandals and court hearings, this is the dark side of Australia’s mummy influencers.

Tammy Hembrow starts the list with her wild history of party girls and mysterious domestic disputes on the Gold Coast.

The 29-year-old YouTuber is best known for her fitness videos and vlogs, but the Queensland native often posts about her three children Wolf, seven, Saskia, six, and Posy, one.

She shares her two eldest with ex-fiancé Reece Hawkins, while she had her youngest child with Ironman ex-fiancé Matt Poole, who she divorced just months after Posy’s birth.

Although the blonde beauty seems to be living a fairly low-key lifestyle at the moment, Tammy’s online following skyrocketed after she made headlines in 2018 and 2019 for her erratic behavior.

In August 2018, the mother of three was carried away from Kylie Jenner’s 21st birthday party on a stretcher.

At the time, the fitness blogger blamed “drinking” and a “lack of sleep” for her horrific collapse at trendy Delilah nightclub in West Hollywood.

However, it wasn’t the only time Tammy was partying too hard while her children Wolf and Saskia stayed home with their father Reece.

In April the following year, video footage surfaced of Tammy ‘falling asleep’ in a chair at the Coachella music festival after drinking too much alcohol.

The embarrassing clip saw her snoring on her own lap as friends filmed her in a terrible state.

Just months later, ex Reece had to care for their children again when Tammy jetted off to America to party with A-listers at the MTV VMA music awards in New Jersey.

Tammy’s controversies don’t end there as in November 2019, police were called to her Gold Coast mansion following a domestic ‘disturbance’ at 9.30pm, with her ex Jahkoy Palmer leaving Australia just hours after the ‘complaint’ was made to the police was filed.

In 2020, the influencer came under fire when she chose to promote her bushfire fundraising by posing braless on a luxury yacht in just a pair of bikini bottoms and a soaking wet T-shirt.

Ruby Tuesday Matthews is the next mummy influencer to make the list after she became famous for holding up a Jetstar flight to eat a plate of oysters.

The 28-year-old shares Rocket, five, and Mars, four, with ex Ryan Heywood, but in September 2022 she welcomed daughter Holiday with fiancé Shannan Dodd.

However, Ruby is most famous for sparking the oystergate controversy when she decided to hold up an entire flight in October 2020.

The mother-of-three was due to fly from Byron Bay to Sydney at 5pm that month, but a technical problem caused the plane, flight JQ461, to be delayed.

The budget airline asked travelers to remain in place while they waited for an engineer, and told passengers the new departure time would likely be around 7:30 p.m.

But Ruby and her traveling companion left the airport to grab a bite to eat at a beachside restaurant, leaving passengers waiting on the tarmac for 30 minutes until the couple returned.

In March 2022, Ruby also suffered an embarrassing online bust when she was caught sending herself “anonymous questions” in an Instagram Q&A so she could hook up her sponsors.

The brunette beauty also found herself in hot water this year for an incident involving her middle son Mars.

In June, Matthews was criticized for trying to sell T-shirts decorated by her young son for up to $60 each.

Ruby shared photos of herself modeling the tie-dye shirts and claimed that ‘100% of the profits go to [Mars’} piggy bank’.

Perth-based mummy blogger Constance Hall has the most legal controversies of anyone on this list, with a whopping three separate court cases under her belt.

The 40-year-old mother-of-six had a very public split from her ex-husband Bill Mahon.

Their divorce went through the courts in 2018, but it wasn’t the first time Constance made an appearance before a judge.

In 2017, she was taken to the Supreme Court by her former business partner and friend Kristen Watts over unpaid royalties from her best-selling book.

That same year, Constance became embroiled in yet another legal clash with the developers who designed her now-defunct website.

Married couple Joshua and Annabel Olward claimed $100,000 in damages over a ‘breach of contract’ when Constance decided to no longer work with them on her blog queensofconstance.com.

Since then, Constance has appeared in headlines for various reasons, including the harrowing moment her husband Denim Cooke drove a car with ice in his system while having an unrestrained child in his car and an expired licence.

Just last year, Constance also came under fire when she revealed several of her children sleep on the floor of her living room in a ‘sleep nest’.

Finally, Sarah Stevenson, who goes by the moniker of Sarah’s Day, often faces backlash online for putting her foot in her mouth.

The Sydney mother-of-two, 30, most recently attempted to send Christmas presents to Muslim children in war-torn Palestine in an ‘out of touch’ post to Instagram.

Just a week prior, the influencer was called out for being ‘borderline racist’ when she called her son’s curried egg sandwiches ‘smelly’.

‘Do you want to be “smelly curried egg boy”?’ she asked the youngster, which prompted an enraged follower to accuse her of racism against an entire culture.

Earlier this year, the cashed-up online personality was slammed for being ‘out of touch’ and ‘tone-deaf’ once again when she teased her followers about a ‘big life update’ which she later revealed was the purchase of her second home.

She has since boasted about plans to turn the ‘Spanish-style villa’ into an AirBnB and luxury holiday home for her husband Kurt Tilse and their two children, Fox and Malakai.

Still, the controversies don’t end there, with the millionaire busted in February attempting to sell a three-year-old designer rug online as ‘basically’ brand new.

She also copped backlash for yet again being a ‘cheapskate’ in 2019 when she announced she would raise money for bushfire victims by donating $1 from every La’Bang Body skincare product she sold in 48 hours.
