A shocked daughter heard an attacker rape her disabled mother in an answering machine message that left the vulnerable 68-year-old as she tried to call for help, French media report.
The horrific attack is said to have taken place after the alleged rapist followed the woman to her home near the Blanche metro in Paris on Saturday, December 16.
The mother managed to call her daughter, who did not answer the phone. She was then heard on voicemail pleading with her attacker not to rape her, to which he gave the sickening response: “Spread your thighs.”
After hearing the disturbing message, the woman’s daughter immediately alerted a neighbor, who rushed to the victim’s apartment and scared off the attacker.
Shortly afterwards, a homeless man, 28, was picked up by police nearby and arrested on suspicion of carrying out the vicious attack. He remains in custody.

Emergency workers took the elderly woman to hospital for examination after the attack.
She “lives alone and suffers from frontal and temporal degeneration of the brain,” a source close to the case said. Le Parisien.
Her disease is said to reduce mobility and other physical abilities.
According to the victim’s testimony, the man took advantage of the woman’s lack of resistance to his attempts to undress her before forcing her to have sex.
The woman’s alleged attacker was at a height of 6 feet, 6 inches, police said.
He has denied committing the offense and reportedly claimed that the lady invited him to her home and expressed a desire to sleep with him.
In response to the recording, he maintained this position and claimed to be a victim of racism.
