The savvy parent, known only as Itsty, took to TikTok where she revealed the somewhat genius idea she came up with – and fellow mums and dads think it's more budget-friendly than shopping for real nappies.

Instead of running to the store or letting her child run around without diapers, Itsty made her own DIY diaper — one that consisted of attaching a thick sanitary pad to the toddler's panties.

To ensure the sanitary pad wouldn't slide all over the place and would stay secure, the savvy mom used the wings the menstrual pad came with.

“We ran out of Pampers, so I had to come up with something,” Itsty chuckled the now viral video.

“I had to improvise a little,” she continued in the caption.

Needless to say, fellow parents were amazed by the simple but seemingly effective solution, as hundreds of the 1.3 million viewers rushed to the comments to praise the trick.

One mother said: ''You gave me the idea of toilet training!''

“What a great idea!” someone else chimed in.

“A win is a win,” chuckled a third.

''Better than nothing! You're doing great,” wrote another.

It turns out it wasn't just Itsty who used pads as an extra emergency diaper – many other parents also claimed to love this method and some even thought it was better for the budget.

“This is cheaper,” one mother commented.
