Donna Kelce is the ultimate boy mom for sons Travis And Jason Kelce – but her newfound fame as their parent was something she didn’t see coming.
‘Everyone has actually been very nice. Very respectful,” Donna, 71, shared exclusively We weekly on Tuesday, November 14, while celebrating her collaboration with Ancestors®. “But every now and then someone comes running into the bathroom after me and I’m like, ‘Can we wait until we get out of here before you take my picture?’ I really don’t want a photo in the toilet.’ It’s things like that that are kind of funny, and I’m sure everyone understands that this is in the public eye.
Although Donna hasn’t let the attention from fans stop her, she was shocked that some people started filming her without her knowledge. “I went to [see] I recently made a movie and someone recently took a TikTok of me and put it online, and I was like, ‘Oh, my god,'” she recalled. “So it’s a little nerve-wracking sometimes, but that’s just part of it. You take the good with the less good. It is what it is.”
Donna noted that without public supporters, her boys would not have jobs as football players. “My children are paid by fans. That’s the essence of it. And you better be nice to them,” she explained. “That’s all I tell them.”
Jason, 36, and Travis, 34, have both been in the NFL for years and both became superstars after their head-to-head matchup in Super Bowl LVII earlier this year. Jason is the center for the Philadelphia Eagles, who were ultimately defeated by Travis’ Kansas City Chiefs in the February championship game. Meanwhile, Travis is a difficult task for his team.
Donna’s fame also rose after her children faced off at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, marking the first time in Super Bowl history that brothers faced each other. When Travis started dating Taylor Swift earlier this fall, the whole family’s popularity grew again.
Swift, 33, has been spotted at several of Travis’ games since September. She’s even been seen chatting with Donna and the boys’ father. Ed Kelcewhile advocating for the athlete.
While Donna initially teased that she would “never tell” fans what she and Swift talked about during their first meeting on game day, she later told the Today shows hosts talking about sports.
“I was talking about this. You know when the commercial people come out with orange gloves and stand on the field? I said if they go like this,” Donna explained in October, making a circular motion with her hand, “the commercial is over and they can play again.”
Donna noted at the time that the public’s fascination with their family is “fairly new” and “just one of those things where, you know, everyone saw me clearly. I was in the boxes with her and it’s just something that enhanced my life. (Travis, meanwhile, left for Argentina in early November to support Swift Eras tour during the Chiefs bye game.)
No matter who she’s in the box with on Sunday, when it comes to the holidays, Donna is all about her family. Ahead of the Christmas season, Donna partnered with Ancestry® to learn more about her heritage and to better share and preserve her family’s heritage.
“Family is very important to me… and football is of course also family. But I think I’m really, really happy about working with Ancestry, especially because of some of the new tools that they have,” Donna explained to Us. “They have the ability to upload photos and recipes and things like that, which really intrigued me and that’s why I decided to work with them.”
Donna revealed that among her findings on the website, she discovered that she has a “sprinter trait,” which she said “makes a lot of sense.” The matriarch shared, “I was a sprinter when I was in high school and I was pretty fast. I could beat guys in high school. It goes without saying that my boys would also be able to move quickly on the field.”
