Dunki Box Office Collection: SRK-starrer Mints Rs 332 Crore Worldwide

Starring Shah Rukh Khan and Taapsee Pannu, Dunki was released in theaters on December 21. So far, the film has generated a global box office revenue of over Rs 332 worldwide.

Shah Rukh Khan recently released his much-awaited third film of the year, ‘Dunki’. Helmed by Rajkumar Hirani, it stars Taapsee Pannu, Vicky Kaushal, Booman Irani and others in key roles. The film initially got off to a slow start at the box office. However, in the first weekend, the SRK starrer performed well. Worldwide, the film has grossed over Rs. 332 crore from day 9.

‘Dunki’ made a decent opening on its release day and grossed Rs 30 crore on day 1. Critics, however, said the numbers were relatively low compared to SRK’s other films of the year, including ‘Jawan’ and ‘Pathaan.’ While ‘Pathaan’ made Rs 57 crore on its first day, ‘Jawan’ minted Rs 75 crore on its first day of release. Meanwhile, Rajkumar Hirani’s film has earned Rs 161 crore nett in India so far and is expected to comfortably cross the Rs 200 crore mark in its second weekend. It is expected to cross the Rs 350 crore mark this coming weekend.

On Thursday, ‘Dunki’ recorded a total occupancy rate of 14.36 percent. The film had 647 shows in Mumbai, where it achieved an occupancy rate of 18.50 percent, and in the Delhi-NCR region, it had around 875 shows with an occupancy rate of 12.50 percent. ‘Dunki’ competes with Prabhas’ ‘Salaar’, which recently crossed the Rs 500 crore mark worldwide and earned around Rs 100 crore in the Hindi market alone.

‘Dunki’ marks Shah Rukh’s third release. The film is a story about heartwarming friendships, emotions and love. It revolves around four friends who want to settle abroad. However, unable to pass the immigration exam, all four of them take the dangerous route called the ‘Donkey Route’ to illegally cross the border into a foreign country.
