MANCHESTER UNITED legend Dwight Yorke has labeled £55million Mason Mount as “not that good of a player”.
The midfielder moved from Chelsea to Old Trafford in the summer but failed to impress in the Manchester outfit.
Mount, 25, has not played for Man United since the 1-0 win over Luton Town in November.
He has been sidelined with a calf problem and is making progress in his recovery, but is not yet fit enough to make his return and it is unclear when he will be available for selection.
And this was a concern for Erik ten Hag's side, who spent a huge sum of money on the midfielder.
But the Dutchman may have to look elsewhere with Mount's former teammate Conor Gallagher on the transfer radar as he is unlikely to extend his contract at Stamford Bridge, which expires in June 2025.
However, Yorke slammed both the Chelsea lad and Mount to say the pair are not as good as people think.
He told Gambling zone: “Conor Gallagher to Man United? The question is whether Gallagher United improves and I don't think he does.
“You can't buy players who aren't better than the players we already have.
“Is he much better than Mason Mount? I don't think so and I'm not sure Mason himself is that good of a player.

“Yes, Gallagher is a good, athletic player, but you still have to be better at Man United and I don't think he is.”
This season, Mount has made just 12 appearances in all competitions and is yet to score for his new team.
The England international did not start any of Chelsea's final 18 games of the 2022/2023 season due to a pubic bone injury.
And this past year he started nine games and completed the full 90 minutes just once.
