But almost 90 percent of us prefer to do things differently.

Almost half of pasty lovers – 47 percent – hold them vertically and eat the crimped edge and the main paste together.

Another 14 percent eat the shrunken side first and save the rest for last.

Meanwhile, 25 percent do it in other unconventional ways, including cutting up with a knife and fork.

Only 14 percent got it right, according to a survey of 2,000 British adults by Ginsters.

‘Legend has it that mythical fairies known as Cornish Knockers came to eat the tuck when the miners weren’t looking.

“But that’s the right way to eat them: doughy first and the crimped edge last.”
