'It's everything I wanted' Dark Souls fans are shocked by the Elden Ring reveal

IT'S been two years since gamers put their lives on hold to play 2022's hit game, Elden Ring.

Not only is it based on a world that Game of Thrones' George RR Martin helped create, but it was also developed by FromSoftware.

FromSoftware is a legendary game studio best known for creating the soul-like genre.

With a library including Dark Souls, Bloodborne and Sekiro, FromSoftware is the highest authority on the genre.

Despite how big the world of Elden Ring is, people wanted more, and the Colosseum DLC did little to keep them hooked.

The last DLC gave players the chance to compete against each other in coliseum-style matches, but the next DLC is quite an expansion.

The DLC expansion, called Shadow of the Erdtree, was announced for Elden Ring in February 2023.

We've now been treated to the first look at the content with a new trailer released today (Wednesday, February 21, 2024).

The blurb reads: “The Shadow of the Erdtree expansion features an all-new story set in the Land of Shadow, steeped in mystery, dangerous dungeons and new enemies, weapons and equipment.

“Explore uncharted territories, face formidable opponents and enjoy the satisfying thrill of victory.

“Dive into the compelling interplay of characters, where drama and intrigue intertwine, creating an immersive experience to enjoy.”

Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree is available from Friday June 21, 2024, and costs $39.99 / £34.99, and requires Elden Ring to play.
