Escape to the Chateau Couple Dick and Angel Strawbridge announce their ‘biggest theater tour ever’

Escape to the Chateau stars Dick and Angel Strawbridge have vowed to ‘set the record straight’ in another UK tour after being dropped by Channel 4.

The celebrity couple will hit theaters across the country in 2024 with their show Dick & Angel Forever Home (Avec le nitty gritty), with tickets on sale starting next week.

In a Facebook post announcing the tour yesterday, the pair said each show will have a “click-bait segment” that will allow them to “set the record straight!”

It comes after Channel 4 confirmed last month that it is no longer working with the couple following an independent investigation into their behaviour.

Sources claimed that Two Rivers Media, the company that produces Escape To The Chateau, has raised concerns about Dick, 63, and Angel, 45, and that they will not be working on any new productions ‘following a review’.

Meanwhile, public documents revealed this week that the couple is liquidating their chateau company Chateau-de-la-Motte Husson Limited, founded in 2017.

The latest news comes two years after the popular couple first dismissed allegations of bullying, which they vehemently denied at the time.

Amid the fallout, however, the pair appear to be continuing with an “all-new UK tour” called “Forever Home (avec le nitty gritty).”

In a post on their official Facebook page, they wrote: We’ve been planning for almost a year and we couldn’t wait to tell you that we’re going on our biggest theater tour yet!

“It was an honor and a real pleasure to go on the road with our family. Our first theater tour in 2020; Dare to do it was a complete stranger. It was humbling, not only for the number of you who came to see us, but also for the stories you told us when we had a chance to hug each other afterwards!’

They added: ‘In the new Tour we explore why and how we dared, diving deep into our classic myth-busting and click-bait segment (always a favorite of ours, as we set the record straight!). It will be an interactive evening full of fun and games, especially now that we can have you back on stage!

“We just can’t wait, and luckily this time we get to hug each other during the meet and greet after the show. If you’ve come to our first tour, you know we’ll stick around until we say hello to everyone, or we’ll get kicked out of the theater!’

Since the split, it has been revealed that their company Chateau-de-la-Motte Husson Limited, founded in 2017, has been proposed for a ‘voluntary delisting’ from the Companies House register.

The application was signed on May 9 by both directors, Dick and Angel, real name Angela. The strike was first announced in the Government Gazette on May 23 and the company will be dissolved within two months of that date.

Meanwhile, change is also underway at Chateau Television Limited. Dick and Angel discontinued the company, which was founded in 2020, and appointed Da2AD limited, which is run by an accountant.

That entity is now a shareholder, according to documents at Companies House showing that Dick and Angel no longer have “control” of the company.

The couple said in an interview last November that they wanted to “get out of a daze” and felt finishing filming the Escape shows was good for their young family.

However, this followed reports of the couple’s “aggressive and abusive” behavior towards the film crew reported by The Times in 2021.

Angel said she didn’t recognize the painted picture and told The Daily Telegraph: ‘If you asked anyone on our team they’d all say Dick is utterly chivalrous.

“He will always be that person who opens doors, helps people, and if someone upsets me, he will be the first to take control of the situation. He’s very protective.’

On 17 May, Channel 4 announced after a ‘review’ that they would cut ties with the pair for good.

A spokeswoman said: “Following a review, we have made the decision not to work with Dick and Angel on new productions in the future.”

The shows were initially produced by Spark Media Partners, but that working relationship ended after four seasons and they were replaced by Two Rivers Media.

However, sources told Deadline that relationship had “deteriorated” as well.

In a statement posted on Instagram on May 26, the couple wrote, “Thank you for inviting us into your living rooms. You have seen our children grow up and shared our adventures.

‘It was a decision made by the Strawbridge family early last year to complete ‘Escape to the Chateau’, but we loved every moment of it and despite the many challenges we refused to give up on our dream, and with that we filled the castle with love and laughter, and most importantly, have created the most beautiful home for our family.

“We know there are a lot of stories in the press right now. It’s not worth even trying to comment or provide context because anything can be made into a good headline.

‘We understand it. There are two sides to every story and from the incredible support we’ve received, most of you know that.

“We are proud of who we are, and we believe we should do what we believe is right, in fact that is what has kept Escape to the Chateau unique, and although we have parted ways with Channel 4, we are immensely grateful to them and their teams for their support and creativity over the years.

“The future really couldn’t be more exciting and we thank you for your continued love and support.”

They continue to sell homewares and other goods through their website and Angel’s range of cushions, bedding and lampshades are still sold online through Next, Wayfair, Just Fabrics and Argos.

All events on offer, such as Garden Days and ‘Under the Stars’ tours, are marked as unavailable and the castle, which was rented out for weddings at £38,000 a time, is also unavailable for weddings.

In a note on the website, the couple says they are clearing a two-year backlog. It reads: ‘We are currently doing a two-year catch-up for weddings, we will reopen applications as soon as possible!’

A post on Instagram last month showed that weddings are still taking place at the 45-room property, which they bought in 2010.

They have announced that they will go on a theater tour to 32 locations next year.

On Instagram, the pair said, “In the new Tour, we explore why and how we dared, diving deep into our classic segment of busting myths and clickbait (always a favorite of ours, as we can set the record straight away!) .

‘It will be an interactive evening full of fun and games, especially now that we can have you back on stage!!’ They continued, “We just can’t wait, and luckily this time we get to cuddle after the show at the meet and greet.”

“If you came to our first tour, you know we stick around until we say hello to everyone, or we get kicked out of the theater!”

A friend of the couple said: ‘Dick and Angel’s interests in the UK are managed by UK companies and, as is customary, the corporate structure is reviewed from time to time and rationalized as necessary to reflect the underlying business.’
