The English family brewery has been supplying beer to pubs for fourteen years and says it is “really sad” that “the end of the road has been reached”.

On Facebook, the brewer explained how “unprecedented increases in the cost of living, fuel prices, raw materials and many other factors” ultimately made it “no longer viable” for them to continue.

It added that owner Gregg wanted to step back from the business “due to family responsibilities”.

As usual, Tatton Brewery is sending the last deliveries this week and is also offering customers stock from its webshop.

Tatton’s beers are available in cask, keg and bottle in pubs, bars, restaurants and other locations across North West England.

We are truly saddened to have to make this statement, making us part of the current industry downturn – but we must put an end to it.

In the post, the brewery thanked its ‘amazing staff’ and ‘amazing customers’ for their support over the years and urged people to ‘get out there’ to grab their ‘last pints of Tatton Beer’.

Hundreds of people left comments on the family brewery’s Facebook post.

Many were disappointed to hear the news that the beloved brewery is closing for good.

“Such sad news,” one user wrote.

They added: “Your beer will be missed, but all the best for the future.”

Another person wrote: “That’s really sad to hear.

“You’ve made some great beers, and some insane whole batch beers too.

“You will be sadly missed, but all the best to you all, whatever the future holds.”

And a third commented: “This news comes as a shock to many of us. We wish you all the best as your beers have always been top class.”

It comes after a report last year found that 45 British craft breweries went bankrupt, a big jump from the 15 bankruptcies the year before, according to Just drinks.

The major drinks giant Brewdog permanently closed a brewery location on an iconic beer mile last year.

The site that produced the famous Hawkes cider had to close due to “rampant inflation, rising energy costs and relentless pressure on the cost of living”, according to Brewdog.

And punters in Manchester were left devastated after their popular pub announced it was closing forever.

Temperance Street Brewery pulled down its shutters last year after more than a decade on the high street.

The costs of electricity, food and drink have made running pubs expensive, causing many to reluctantly close their doors for good.
