An hour and a half police chase has left an officer in hospital after a woman allegedly hit at least eight vehicles during the chase.

The 30-year-old woman was reportedly speeding in a gray Mazda 3 along the Hume Highway at Pheasant’s Nest, southwest of Sydney, at 10.30am on Monday.

Traffic and Highways police officers embarked on a high-speed chase for about 10 kilometers before withdrawing due to ‘concerns’ about her driving.

The car was followed by a police helicopter as it raced more than 90 kilometers through south-west Sydney before being stopped in Northmead just before midday.

An officer was taken to Westmead Hospital in Parramatta with hand injuries after the driver allegedly hit a police car and seven civilian vehicles during the rampage.

Police will allege at least two of the vehicles were struck by the vehicle as it traveled along the Great Western Highway to Wentworthville, then along the Cumberland Highway to Toongabbie and Old Windsor Road.

The police car and five civilian vehicles were then reportedly hit by the Mazda on Northmead as the chase came to an end.

The 30-year-old woman from Victoria was arrested at the scene and taken to Merrylands Police Station. Charges have yet to be filed.

Police suspect that other cars may have been damaged during the chase and are calling on anyone who may have been hit to contact police.

Police have also urged anyone with information about the incident to contact Crime Stoppers.
