London’s hottest new hot property now has an opening date.

The luxury Peninsula chain’s first-ever British hotel – Peninsula London – will welcome its first guests on September 12 this year, with rooms starting at £1,300.

The Peninsula Hotels group has an eye-catching real estate portfolio, from Hong Kong to Paris and from New York to Beverly Hills. And newly released photos show that the London edition will be just as pleasing to the eye.

Peninsula London is located in Belgravia where Hyde Park Corner and Wellington Arch meet, with iconic landmarks such as Buckingham Palace, the Palace of Westminster, Harrods and the boutiques of Bond Street less than 15 minutes’ walk away.

This place is in one of the UK’s most exclusive postcodes – SW1X, which is shared by other five star hotels including Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park, The Berkeley and The Lanesborough.

Just about everything about The Peninsula Paris is perfect. I would even go so far as to say that anyone wanting to succeed in the hospitality industry would do well to spend a night here, or just have lunch or coffee and take notes. Or if you’re really short on time, just walk into the lobby, because that alone is breathtaking.

Peninsula London fits right in, with a statement claiming that the newly built hotel has been ‘designed and furnished to embody the finest of British craftsmanship’.

It continues: ‘With architecture designed to harmonize gracefully with Belgravia’s landmark buildings, The Peninsula London also embodies a clean, spacious aesthetic that floods its exquisite Peter Marino-designed interiors with natural light.

The hotel, along with 25 lavish luxury residences, centers around an expansive off-street courtyard laid out in the style of a classic English garden with cascading ivy, wisteria and 120-year-old Japanese maples providing a graceful and easy arrival from the street along with valet parking and underground garage.’

The hotel features 190 “understated luxurious rooms (from 51 to 59 m²) and suites” with “custom furnishings, textiles and artwork that evoke the feel of chic private homes.”

The changing rooms, we’re told, have mahogany panels, the ‘superb’ bathrooms are made of honey-onyx, and many rooms ‘have floor-to-ceiling windows with unparalleled views over Wellington Arch and historic Belgravia’.

The hotel will also offer a “diverse range of relaxation and well-being choices” later in the year at its spa, which features “a dramatically lit 25-metre indoor pool.”

Room rates may make an overnight stay out of reach for many, but there’s plenty on offer at the property to entice those looking for a pleasant place to eat and drink.

The statement reveals: ‘Brooklands, the hotel’s signature rooftop restaurant, offers modern British cuisine from Michelin-starred chef Claude Bosi. At Canton Blue and its adjoining bar, Little Blue, innovative Chinese cuisine, cocktails, teas and exotic decor celebrate the spice trade union of Asian and British cultures.

The £1,300 exclusive opening offer includes daily breakfast for two; Peninsula Time, flexible check-in and check-out times, use of a ‘house car’; and free airport pick-up service for all suite reservations.
