The original Ghostbusters have returned to team up with a new generation in the new trailer for Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire.

Bill Murray (Dr. Peter Venkman), Dan Aykroyd (Dr. Raymond Stantz), Ernie Hudson (Winston Zeddmore), Annie Potts (Janine Melnitz) and William Atherton (William Peck) reprise their roles from the original 1984 Ghostbusters classic.

They are joined by the cast from 2021's Ghostbusters: Afterlife, including Carrie Coon (Callie Spengler, Egon Spengler's daughter, played by the late Harold Ramis), Paul Rudd (Gary Grooberson), McKenna Grace (Phoebe Spengler) and Finn Wolfhard ( Trevor Spengler).

Together they must join forces to stop an evil force that has been unleashed that could cause a new ice age on Earth.

The film will be released exclusively in theaters on March 22 and will compete against the Disney animated film Luca and the Sydney Sweeney horror film Immaculate.

The trailer opens with the voiceover of Atherton's William Peck, who tried to shut down the company in the original Ghostbusters film.

They show photos of Callie and Gary driving the Ecto-1 vehicle, and photos of Zeddmore and Stantz driving from the original.

'I've waited forty years for this. They called themselves Ghostbusters. According to these hacks, they saved the world, not eyewitnesses,” Peck said.

They show a photo of the Ghostbusters headquarters in New York City, as Peck continues, “And who turns out to be carrying the torch? Descendants of Egon Spengler.'

Peck is shown addressing Callie, Gary, Phoebe, and Trevor in his office, adding, “You've got a minor hanging off the side of a moving vehicle indiscriminately firing a laser gun.”

Trevor adds, “That's a proton pack,” while Gary Peck tries to reassure that “it's perfectly safe,” though Phoebe counters, “I wouldn't say completely safe.”

Peck declares, “The Ghostbusters are done,” while Gary responds, “Okay, overruled,” while Trevor adds, “Continued!”

The trailer cuts to a store where Nadeem Razmaad (Kumail Nanjiani) asks, “Are you that weird guy who buys weird old things?”

You see him talking to Aykroyd's Stantz, and he says, “Correct on both counts,” as the characters place a box on his display case.

“Buddy, you just hit the jackpot,” Nanjiani's character says, as Stantz pulls out a small mysterious orb.

Phoebe asks Dr. Hubert Wartzki (Patton Oswalt): 'What is it?' He answers, “A better question is, what's in it?” while Trevor's friend Lucky (Celeste O'Connor) watches.

An unspecified character is seen touching the orb while his hand freezes, as Stantz explains, “The parables tell of an unimaginable evil commanding an army of ghosts.”

Stantz adds that they have “the power to kill through fear itself,” as Gary says, “literally terrified?”

“We may be dealing with a second ice age,” Stantz adds, as New York City begins to experience supernatural freezing events, with spikes of ice shooting up through the sand on a beach.

Trevor says they're going to need all the help they can get, as Zeddmore tells Stantz, “Let's get started,” while Venkman arrives and says, “Can I help with anything?”

He walks through the Ghostbusters headquarters and finds Stantz and Melnitz in one of the Ghostbusters' iconic brown jumpsuits, adding, “Melnitz in uniform, yes!”

Gary says, “If there's something strange, if there's something strange, who are people going to call?”

Melnitz then answers the phone and says, “Ghostbusters, what do you want?” Gary tells Callie, “We're the Ghostbusters. Can I tell you something else? Bustin' makes me feel good,” and copies a line from Ray Parker Jr.'s iconic original Ghostbusters theme.

The trailer ends with more supernatural action, including Lucky taking his turn with a proton pack, while Venkman sees the main ghostly villain.

“Head up, tall, dark and hot at 12 o'clock,” says Venkman, as the trailer shows off some new technology: a drone-powered ghost trap.

The final shot features the return of another franchise favorite: the green ghost Slimer, who flies right through Trevor and slimes him.
