New Delhi: It’s now easier to spot specific medical conditions thanks to a new Google Lens feature. By using the phone’s camera to capture photos of rashes or irritations, Google Lens can now assess and pinpoint potential skin problems. According to the latest reports, Google has expanded the functionality of Google Lens, an application powered by computer vision.

How to use the Google Lens feature:

According to a recent blog post on Keyword, users can now identify moles or rashes on their skin without having to provide a textual description, thanks to Google Lens’ latest recognition capability. By taking a photo with the Google Lens app or choosing one from the device’s gallery, you can enable this feature.

“Trained using millions of skin images, DermAssist can identify more than 90 percent of the most searched skin conditions, and research shows that the underlying technology can help clinicians better identify skin conditions across all populations,” Google said in a blog post, as reported in the Indian Express.

Users can swipe up after creating or selecting an image to see a horizontal row of search results listing the names of various skin conditions. Additionally, a scrollable section is offered below the results that displays aesthetically similar photos for additional reference.

However, it should also be noted that any of these features are not recommended for use for medical purposes.

Linking with the Chatbot Bard

Recently, Google also announced its intent to include Google Lens in Google Bard, allowing users to record photos while creating Bard prompts. With this integration, Google’s AI chatbot will be able to better understand customer questions.

Google was also in the news recently when it warned its employees about sharing confidential data with OpenAI’s “ChatGPT” and also with its own chatbot, Bard. Google’s parent company, Alphabet Inc., citing its long-standing information protection policy, issued such a warning.

When Reuters approached him, the company said that while “Bard” helps programmers most of the time, it can also suggest weird codes.
