A mother has been charged with murder after a newborn baby died in a home.

Jia Xin Teo has now been charged with murder and appeared at Coventry Magistrates’ Court on Saturday.

The 21-year-old was taken into custody next one appear at Warwick Crown Court today.

West Midlands Police said an autopsy was performed on the baby but it was inconclusive.

A spokesperson added: “A woman has been charged with the murder of her newborn baby in Coventry.

“We discovered the baby – believed to be just a few days old – at an address in Raglan Street on Wednesday (March 6).

“Further tests will be carried out to determine the cause of the baby’s death.”
