How Ascot has gone downhill – as rowdy guests introduce explicit tattoos and stumble home barefoot

It should be a jewel in the crown of the racing calendar – welcoming members of the royal family and high flyers from all over the world.

But this year Royal Ascot seems to have lost its luster.

Despite dressing up to the nines to visit Berkshire Racecourse, the guests looked like they’d stumbled out of a nightclub rather than attending a historic encounter – dating back to 1711.

After passing through security in their best fascinators and smart suits, the members of the audience let go as soon as they entered the stands.

On the first day of racing on Tuesday, two women were pictured drinking straight from liquor bottles as they soaked up the atmosphere of the races.

Home time! These stylish revelers still looked glamorous as they left the racecourse on their way home, even though the boys’ ties had come undone

In addition, another was seen bent over a wall with her head in her hands as she recovered from a busy day at the sporting event.

In an effort to feel more comfortable, the race-goer chose to go barefoot and held her high heels in one hand.

Meanwhile, a man was also seen leaving Ascot barefoot and on crutches.

In violation of the dress code, the man – who was accompanied by a glamorous trio of women – had unbuttoned his shirt, undone his tie and also lost his jacket.

While the trio of women he was with still looked quite glamorous, his male friend had also loosened his tie – a move that clearly violates Ascot’s dress policy.

Later in the day, another woman was seen enjoying a quick cigarette while sitting on the sidewalk outside the racecourse.

Plus, one dude’s huge leg tattoo definitely turned heads during her afternoon at the races on Tuesday.

The striking ink – on the back of her knee – belonged to a woman who was gagged with a hand around her neck in the bedroom.

But since the woman was wearing a knee-length dress, the divisive ink didn’t violate the dress code.

In addition, the races proved too much for one barefoot female fan – who had to be carried home over one man’s shoulder.

As Ladies’ Day drew to a close on Thursday, a woman was pictured ill outside the property – after presumably drinking all day.

Unlike Cheltenham, Aintree and Epsom, Ascot is one of the few sporting events that still maintains a strict dress code.

Ladies are required to wear ‘formal daywear’ – meaning dresses must fall just above the knee and straps must be 2.5 cm or wider.

The dress code for men is even stricter – with black, gray or navy morning suits made mandatory for guests in the Royal Enclosure.

On the Royal Ascot website, the organizers have outlined their code of conduct as a warning to new visitors.

It reads: “Drunkenness, loud behavior or harassment of other members, their guests and staff will not be tolerated.”

They further state that they reserve the right to remove people who engage in “conduct that may interfere with or harm the experience of other attendees.”

While the Royal Enclosure remains the only space for members, members of the public can visit the Queen Anne Enclosure – with tickets starting at £49.

This week’s rowdy show of guests is a stark contrast to how attendees behaved at Royal Ascot last year.

Guests were photographed wearing eye-catching outfits with a rainbow of colors as they made the most of the sun during the final day of the races – which had only just recovered to its pre-pandemic extravagance.

While guests this week were all too happy to sit on the grass, last year’s servants were equipped with picnic tables and chairs.

As a token of appreciation for the return of the races, guests donned high fashion finery and show-stopping millinery for their big day out.
