I’ve scoured the internet for a £420 vintage designer dress, but now people are saying it’s ‘inappropriate’ to wear to a wedding

A woman has been accused of wanting to ‘upstage’ the bride after scouring the internet for a £420 designer dress to wear to an upcoming wedding.

Angela Pham, from New York, first saw another TikTok creator wearing the vintage Carolina Herrera dress last year.

Earlier this week, the photographer explained to her own video how she “searched everywhere” for the dress – which had a form-fitting black bodice and voluminous nude skirt.

She said, “I was on the verge of giving up and last week this came out of nowhere on The Real Real.”

After ordering for $535 [£420] from the thrift website, Angela was thrilled with how well the stunning dress fit her when it arrived at her home.

Modeling it in her home studio, Angela paired the vintage dress with some cream silk heels from Manolo Blahnik.

She said, ‘Oh my God, I found the dress! This is insane.

“This dropped waist, someone obviously changed it. I feel very Carrie Bradshaw.”

Angela then ended up with the video by asking if she could keep the designer dress – before admitting she loved it too much to consider returning it.

After uploading the video, Angela posted a question at the top of the comments section asking her 31,900 followers if it was “appropriate to wear as a wedding guest.”

While the majority of viewers agreed that Angela should keep the dress, many argued that it would distract the bride’s attention on her big day.

One replied, “If you must ask [if it’s appropriate]it’s a no.’

Another said, “Girl, you know the answer.”

Angela's videos have been viewed over 500,000 times - and the majority of people thought she shouldn't be wearing the vintage dress to her friend's wedding

Meanwhile, a third said, “Your “dream dress!” deserves a moment bigger than anyone else’s wedding.

“Save it that’s all about YOU!”

“So stunning,” wrote a fourth. “But not as a wedding guest.”

In a follow-up video, Angela explained how she also turned to four people in her life for their opinions.

She continued, “My best gay friend said, “Yeah [to wearing the dress]. It is awesome!”

“My friend, a stylist, said, ‘Yes, I think it would be fine. My traditional Vietnamese mother said, ‘No, you have to ask the bride.’

“My recent bride friend who just got married said, ‘firmly no.'”

A fifth critic commented on the issue, “Skirt is so so so bridal.” The shoes give me a bride.’

A sixth said, “The fact that so many people said no proves that many people at the wedding will feel the same way.”
