New Delhi: An online Bachelor of Science degree in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence is launched by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Guwahati on a leading learning platform. The development comes as the 2020 National Education Policy (NEP) highlights the need to train and prepare professionals in advanced fields that are rapidly gaining prominence, such as machine learning, AI and big data analytics to improve youth employability.

“This program teaches students the digital skills they need to thrive in the modern workforce. They graduate knowing how to implement the latest AI and data science techniques in any field, setting them up for career success,” said Professor Parameswar K Iyer, Acting Director of IIT Guwahati, according to a report by PTI news agency. .

Marni Baker Stein, Coursera’s chief content officer, said: “We are honored to expand our partnership with IIT-Guwahati, enabling students around the world to graduate from one of India’s top institutions preparing them for in-demand positions . ”

According to the World Economic Forum’s Future of Jobs Report 2023, technical jobs, including AI and machine learning specialists, data analysts and data scientists, are expected to grow by more than 30 percent by 2028.

IIT Guwahati’s BSc Course on Data Science, AI

  1. Course available on Coursera: The online training of IIT-Guwahati on Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (AI) will be available on the Coursera learning platform. Coursera works with more than 300 leading university and industry partners.
  2. Suitability and date of application: Anyone after Class 12 or its equivalent, with Mathematics as a compulsory subject, can apply and apply for the course opens on July 19.
  3. Start date lessons: Lessons for the course starts in October this year. To meet this demand and implement NEP 2020 recommendations, IIT Guwahati is opening access to the entire online education program through multiple admission pathways, according to a release.
  4. Preference for JEE Advanced Students: Those who qualify and have registered for JEE Advanced (in any year) will receive direct entry, while those without can take an online course and gain entry based on their performance. The course also offers several exit options.
  5. Job placement: Students receive job placement support from IIT-Guwahati and access to the skills-based recruitment platform Coursera Hiring Solutions.
